A New Look

Corpus omne perseverare in statu suo quiescendi vel movendi uniformiter in directum, nisi quatenus illud a viribus impressis cogitur statum suum mutare.

Everybody perseveres in its state of rest or of uniform motion in a straight line unless it is forced to change that state by forces impressed upon it.

Sound familiar? This is Newton's First law translated from Latin to English. Nothing beats going back to the origin of greatness. Using Newton's own words to describe inertia seems to me much more natural compared to today's lingo. Besides, memorizing Newton's First Law (in Latin) could prove worthwhile at your next dinner party!
